Hey guys, I'm looking into the F1 race at Austin this year and was wondering if any of you have been, can't decide on Turn 1 or Turn 15 grandstands, thanks!!

Have a picture for your troubles.

15, That's where I was the first year and it was probably one of the best places to watch. You can see them come down the back straight into 12 and there is some passing through the next few turns. It's also one of the closest turns to the gate.

If turn one, get their EARLY!!! I chose turn 6 because you can see to colorful sweepers of 3-4, the long straight is visible, turn 12 (much passing), and the awesome hard left of turn 6. Also, you get a big monitor showing the race and the broadcasters of the race are on speakers. Plus the bathrooms and food are super close.

I would say turn 1. It's the circuit's signature corner.

When I first started looking I went straight towards the sweepers cause I love those, but turn 1 and the pits is hard to pass up. Thanks!

If money were no object I would say Turn 1. Otherwise the end of the DRS zone on the back straight which I believe is Turn 10?

I think the end of DRS is turn 12, but that's a good point, 15 and 1 have very similar prices though.

If there are general access tickets available, get those. I went to Budapest for the Grand Prix this past summer and wasn't sure if getting the cheapest tickets was a good decision. Turned out we got there an hour before the start, mozied over to the grassy hill where we had full view of the start + the entire circuit. Amazing times. Good beer as well in Hungary (Dreher).

I went in 2012 we had general admission and honestly it was awesome we sat at turn 19 in the grass as you had the last two turns and you could see turn 1

First time? Get GA tickets and walk around the circuit on Friday. Pick a spot and sit there for sat and sun. If you want to sit at T1 grassbanks, get thereon the first shuttle and pitch your tent wayyy early. That turn gets crowded as hell! Also, there is a screen right in front of that grassbank, so helps follow the race. ATT coverage was decent and I had live timing going on my fone during the race to make it easier to follow. Pits are visible and you can see quite clearly. The start is tricky with that big old Pirelli sign blocking half the grid but thats ok :)

Yea first time. And thanks for the advice, seems like a great way to find a spot and sit there for the weekend. I think the Pirelli sign will be alright too haha

Where did you end up parking for the weekend? There are I believe 3 lots at the track

We bought parking slots at the airport parking lot and took the shuttle from there to the track. They also had similar options of parking at the expo center and some other place. You park there and then take the shuttle from there to the track. Check the parking options this year. I'm sure they changed a few things. If you have a bike, they had a dedicated bike parking place, where you can park, shower andthen take a shuttle to the track. All these parking areas were outside the track, a few miles away in different directions. During the WEC race, they had parking on the grounds, at $20/day or something, since they expected far fewer people. Check their website for parking options. Usually onsite parking will be more expensive from what I've seen.
